# Interoperability with Quippe

The Quippe platform accepts clinical data in any format, normalizes it, and structures it against the Quippe Data Model — so coding, terminology, and clinical meaning stay consistent regardless of where the data came from, or where it's going. 

The sections below summarize the data exchange and interoperability standards supported. 

## HL7® FHIR® Resources

HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) is the current standard for structured, API-based exchange of healthcare information. Medicomp provides full FHIR support for every clinical capability offered by the Quippe platform. 

- **Import** - Ingest FHIR resources and map their contents into the Quippe Data Model, allowing FHIR-sourced data to be normalized, coded, and operationalized using Medicomp's clinical knowledge tooling. 
- **Export** - Generate FHIR resources from data represented in the Quippe Data Model, for delivery to other FHIR-consuming systems. 


## CDA Formats

HL7 CDA (Clinical Document Architecture) is an XML-based standard widely used to exchange clinical documents such as discharge summaries and progress notes. Quippe-supported CDA formats and implementation guides include:  

- C-CDA (Consolidated CDA)
- CCD (Continuity of Care Document)
- QRDA I (Quality Reporting Document Architecture)


## USCDI (United States Core Data for Interoperability)

USCDI defines a standardized set of health data classes and elements for interoperable data exchange in the U.S. The USCDI standard is updated each year. Current regulation requires a baseline of USCDI version 3.1. Newer versions are approved for adoption by vendors ahead of regulatory updates through ONC's [Standards Version Advancement Process (SVAP)](https://isp.healthit.gov/standards-version-advancement-process). 

Quippe supports the clinical data elements required by USCDI [v3.1](https://isp.healthit.gov/united-states-core-data-interoperability-uscdi#uscdi-v3-1), [v4](https://isp.healthit.gov/united-states-core-data-interoperability-uscdi#uscdi-v4), and [v5](https://isp.healthit.gov/united-states-core-data-interoperability-uscdi#uscdi-v5) and their associated vocabulary standards (LOINC®, RxNorm®, SNOMED CT®, etc.) and value sets. Quippe also supports the associated FHIR resources for seamless data exchange.
